Logan City budget approved

LOGAN—There was very little public input Tuesday as the Logan Municipal Council passed a 2013 fiscal year budget which calls for increases in both water and sewer rates of $2 a month. The $132.7 million dollar budget calls for no property tax increases and no pay hikes for elected officials.

Public Works Director Mark Nielsen said the monthly residential base rate for water will go from $14 to $16 and the average bill for households will go from $45.90a month to $47.90. Nielson said there are no consumption water rate hikes.

At the public hearing Nielson said the increases are needed in order to replace the water piping under 10000 West from US Highway 91 to 200 North for the first phase. Sewer collection rates will go up by four dollars a month, as well.
