Logan City warns of utility scam

There is apparently a scam going on aimed at Logan City utility customers. According to the Logan City’s website, utility customers have been receiving calls where the scammer says they are from the utilities company and that a payment is required immediately to avoid being shut off.

On its website, logan.utah.org, the city outlines Utility Billing Security guidelines. For example, Logan City utility billing seldom contacts a customer by telephone. Utility bills are sent through the mail and notice of a late payment on a utilities account comes as a postcard.

If a resident’s electricity is to be shut off a notice will be left on their electric meter or doorknob. If any residents think they have been scammed, call the Logan City Police Department immediately. The number is 435-753-7555. If it is an emergency call 911.
