OGDEN, Utah (AP) – Commercial flights are coming to the Ogden-Hinckley Airport in a deal officials say will help increase outdoorsy tourism in northern Utah. Airport officials say Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air will begin offering nonstop jet service between Ogden and Phoenix in September.
The service announced at the airport Wednesday would flights twice a week.
Mayor Mike Caldwell said Ogden is already looking toward linking the city to more destinations. Allegiant flies in and out of places like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Bellingham, Wash., which could someday connect with Ogden.
The Phoenix flights would start at $70 for a one-way ticket. Caldwell called the deal a game-changer that would tie into the region’s growing reputation as an outdoor recreation destination.
