Preston soldier killed in Afghanistan

BOISE, Idaho (AP) – A 24-year-old soldier from southeastern Idaho died Tuesday in Afghanistan when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. Private First Class Cody O. Moosman of Preston died in Gayan Alwara Mandi.

An active-duty soldier, Moosman had been assigned to a U.S. Army Unit out of Fort Riley, Kan. Early on July 4, Moosman’s family issued a statement saying their son told them starting in the third grade that he had wanted to be in the Army.

He joined in 2010, at age 22, and loved the idea of protecting his fellow citizens. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had completed his Eagle Scout badge.

He leaves behind a mother, father, two brothers and two sisters, his grandparents and numerous other family members who adored him.
