Logan City Police have made an arrest in an ongoing investigation into child pornography. Logan resident Mark R. Spencer, 57, was arrested on 10 counts of 2nd degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor.
According to a LCPD press release, officers responded to the call of a computer that reportedly had child pornography on it back on March 20, 2012. A preliminary investigation showed there had been child porn sites that had been searched on the computer.
Investigators contacted the State Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) unit and reviewed the case with their agents. Investigators then obtained a search warrant for the computer and sent it to a
computer forensics lab for further analysis.
Investigators received a report from the forensics lab showing the extent of the search history in detail. The case was reviewed with the Cache County Attorney office and investigators were instructed to take Spencer into custody. Spencer was contacted at his residence in Logan and booked into the Cache County Jail.
