The chairman of the Utah State Democratic Party says it’s too bad Republican Senator Orrin Hatch didn’t decide to let someone else take over the seat he has held for 36 years. On KVNU’s Elections 2012 with Harry Caines Thursday, Jim Dabakis said Hatch wants to win so badly that he has changed his views on issue after issue, including the Dream Act that would allow young immigrants to stay in this country. Dabakis said the Dream Act was a bill Hatch sponsored and then turned against.
“It’s a disgrace that a man would sell his soul the way Orrin Hatch has,” claimed Dabakis. “Now, of course, he refuses to debate (Democratic Senate candidate) Scott Howell.
“Orrin Hatch feels like he’s entitled to that seat and he’s quite outraged whether its Dan Liljenquist or Scott Howell that anybody dares talk about taking his senate seat away.”
Dabakis says Democrat Scott Howell is a highly-qualified candidate for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Hatch.
