The Cache County Fire District sent 30 firefighters to Franklin County Wednesday afternoon where a wildfire near Riverdale burned within a half mile of two homes. Cache County Assistant Fire Chief Jason Winn says Cache County sent firefighters from Lewiston, Richmond, Smithfield, Trenton and North Logan to help put out the wildfire.

He says a total of 250 to 300 acres were destroyed on both sides of State Road 34 and the highway was closed at one time for approximately an hour. Winn says the blaze was contained at approximately 7 p.m. and controlled by 8 p.m. The cause has not been determined.
