North Logan residents stand behind North Park Police

There is not doubt about it. The North Park Police Department will remain exactly what it was when it was formed more than 30 years ago–the North Park Police Department. There was an overflow crowd at Wednesday’s North Logan Council meeting.

Cache County Sheriff Lynn Nelson was there along with Chief Deputy Brad Slater and Lt. Brian Locke to talk about the feasibility of contracting with the county for law enforcement services. One after another residents told the council they wanted the department to stay as it is.

North Park Police Chief Kim Hawkes called it “heartwarming.”

“I think I had a sense that people were pleased with the service we were providing,” Hawkes says. “But to hear last night it articulated by citizen after citizen it was a great evening. I was very pleased with the response and that the council’s on board to continue on. We can get back to our job at providing good service to the people of North Logan and Hyde Park.”

Hawkes says he believes the two cities, by working with the people in those communities, can do a better job of providing the level of service needed than could a larger entity.
