LOGAN— The 2012 prep football season kicks off Friday and fans that are unable to make it to the games can tune into various radio stations of the Cache Valley Media Group to catch the action.
Kicking off things will be the defending 4A State Champion Logan Grizzlies as they host Northridge and begin their title defense. Evan Nyman will be returning to the Grizzly play-by-play action for his seventh season, while Dave Simmons joins Nyman for color commentary after moving over from valley rival Sky View. The Grizzlies can be found on KVNU 610 AM/102.1 FM and streamed live at 610kvnu.com.
For the Bobcats, Brad Stone will be on play-by-play for the first time replacing long-time announcer Jay Eubanks who retired last spring. Stone brings plenty of experience to the table, having spent time covering sports along the Wasatch Front, including the University of Utah and the Utah Jazz. Stone will be joined by Hurricane John Newbold who slides over from Logan to provide color commentary. The Bobcats open their season on the road at Olympus and can be found on-air at KLGN 1390 AM/103.3 FM.
Calling the games for Mountain Crest will be longtime announcer Bob Appuhn who will be entering his 16th season doing play-by-play for the Mustangs. Appuhn will be joined by former MC all-state quarterback Dave Johnson. Mustang coverage will be aired on KOOL 103.9 FM and will also be streamed live at kool.fm. MC will open its season at home against Mountain View.
Finally, the tradition continues of Bear River Bears coverage on local radio. Bears games will also be carried live on 104.9 FM in Box Elder County and will be streamed live on kix96fm.com. Harry Gephardt, the iconic voice of the Bears, will once again be on the call while Kasey Thompson will provide color commentary. The Bears host North Sanpete in their Friday night season opener.
Coverage of all the games begins 15 minutes before kickoff. Along with live radio coverage, CacheValleyDaily.com will be providing post-game recaps, photo galleries, and even video highlights for Logan, Sky View, and Mountain Crest sports throughout the high school athletic season.
