Ogden– The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists of the following road construction and maintenance activities that may cause traffic impacts in the state’s Northern Region:
North Salt Lake
Sept 14-20: Crews are conducting a project to repair damage to the concrete roadway on north bound I-15 at milepost 313.5 in North Salt Lake. Crews will replace sections of the roadway with prefabricated concrete panels. Two lanes will be closed Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 10:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. Three lanes will be closed during the same time frame on Friday nights. Motorists should move to the left as soon as they see signs indicating that lanes are closed ahead. Motorists with time-sensitive travel should use US-89 in North Salt Lake, or I-215 NB and the Legacy Parkway as alternate routes.
Sept 14-20: Crews are currently finishing several activities on the shoulder including installation of the cable and concrete barriers, drainage, signs and delineators. Crews are also still finish improvements to the bridge over the Union Pacific HAFB railroad tracks just south of 5600 South in Roy. The new lane and shoulder from exit 335 north to exit 338 will remain closed until the completion of this project. Crews will continue work from Monday to Saturday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists should be aware of trucks hauling material in and out of the construction zone, or suddenly slowing down to enter or leave this work area. Sept 14: On Friday night, September 14, beginning at 7 p.m., northbound traffic on I-15 will be reduced to 2 lanes at 400 North, while crews complete work on the northbound 400 North bridge deck on I-15. Sept 15: On Saturday night, September 15, beginning at 7 p.m., southbound traffic on I-15 will be reduced to 2 lanes at 400 North to complete the south bound side of the 400 North bridge deck. Sept 18: On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, September 18 and 19, new paving will be placed on north-and south bound bridge decks at 24th Street, over the Utah Central Railroad between 24th and 21st Streets, 12th Street, and at 400 North in Marriott-Slaterville. This work will require double lane closures at each bridge. Please use caution when traveling through the construction zone and follow all posted construction signs. Sept 14-20: A project is underway to remove and replace guardrails, repair concrete joints, and place new asphalt paving on the shoulders of I-84, between Riverdale Road (SR-26) and US-89 in Uintah. At least one travel lane will remain open each direction at all times, with some night work being conducted at the Adams Avenue/Toll Road Interchange. Motorists should reduce speed as they approach this work, be aware of their surroundings and be prepared to shift lanes as soon as they see signs indicating closures ahead. This project will take about one month to complete.
Sept 14-20: Work is underway on a project to rehabilitate the concrete surface of south-bound Interstate 15, between I-84 (Exit 340) in Riverdale and 200 South in Clearfield. Crews are now grinding down the uneven portions of the new concrete patches in the south bound lanes. Ramp closures associated with this work will occur at the 650 North southbound off-ramp in Clearfield on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., and at the 650 North southbound off-ramp in Clearfield on Wednesday, Sept. 19, also from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Motorists should be aware of trucks hauling material in and out of the construction zone. Area residents may experience some construction related noise and vibration. Sept 17: 6600 South will be closed permanently at US-89, starting Monday September 17. A detour will be provided at the 6550 South entrance to US-89 until the new, realigned 6600 South is open in October. Sept 14-20: Work is continuing on the realignment of the north-bound off-ramp from I-84 to US-89 in Uintah. The south half of the ramp has been paved and traffic is now using that portion, and is stopping at the new stop sign before entering US-89. Paving of the north half of the ramp is scheduled for September 24. Sept 14-20: Construction of a cable median barrier is almost complete in the median of I-84, between milepost 87 and 89. While most of this work will occur in the interstate median, motorists should be alert for construction vehicles slowing down to enter this area, or entering the inside lanes to leave the construction zone. Sept 14-20: Paving is complete on SR-39. The construction team is scheduled to remove temporary striping and apply a coat of permanent striping in the coming week. Further permanent striping will take place next year after chip seal completion next year. Sign installations will take place on the shoulder the road through next week. There should be little to no traffic impacts with this work. Sept 14-20: Guardrail work is underway in sections of SR-39 towards Monte Cristo, between mileposts 14 and 35. This work is expected to continue through the end of next week. One-way traffic is directed by flaggers where work is occurring and motorists should expect up to 15 minute delays. Sept 17: The Region One Paving Crew will be laying asphalt on SR-39, the Monte Cristo Highway, between mileposts 35 and 36 on Monday and Tuesday, September 17-18. One lane will be closed and flaggers will be directing traffic during this work. Motorists should reduce speed, prepare to stop, and proceed only at the direction of flaggers.
Sept 14-20: Work is proceeding on project to add safety improvements to SR-158, from Pine View Dam to milepost 8.1. Construction is now underway on intersection at 2200 North and SR-158. This work may necessitate temporary closures of 2200 North from time to time. Work is also moving forward at the at the intersections of Willow Brook, Moose Hollow, Elkhorn and Fairways Roads, as crews widen intersections and adding turn lanes. Sept 14-20: Work is nearing completion on Phase One of the Tenth West Reconstruction (SR-252) project. On 2500 North, from US-91 to 1000 West, Expect intermittent lane closures as crews work on shoulders and median. Business accesses are almost finished as well, so please obey barrels and other traffic control devices placed to protect work in progress. Sept 14-20: Utility work is being completed on the Tenth West Project by a variety of utility companies in anticipation of construction work this fall and next year. Questar Gas has begun to relocate gas lines between 300 and 1800 North. Logan City Light and Power is also relocating power poles to the east side of the roadway between 400 North and 1400 North. Finally, both Comcast and CenturyLink are updating infrastructure along 2500 North along the North side of the road. Utility work is being conducted Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m., with occasional night work possible. Box Elder County
Sept 14-20: A project to reconfigure and re-signal the intersection of US-89 and US-91 (1100 South), and SR-13 (Main Street) is underway in Brigham City. Most work will be conducted during the hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., which will include intermittent closures of the right lanes of traffic. Motorists should approach this work with caution and be prepared to stop at any time. Additionally, all truck traffic is restricted from using Main Street in Brigham City until September 23. Truck Route signs are in place, and trucks should use 200 North to 200 East, then south bound to 700 South to Main Street, to bypass the restricted area.
Mountain Green to Morgan
Sept 14-20: Work continues on the reconstruction of I-84, from Mountain Green (SR-167) to Morgan (SR-66). Shouldering, crash cushion, delineator/barrier reflector and barrier pad movement activities will take place in the Peterson to Morgan area. Grinding and striping on the new concrete roadway will continue over the next few weeks. Construction has begun on the corridor from Peterson to Mountain Green. Crews work from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., six days per week. WIDE LOAD ROUTING: Loads wider than 12-feet wide are prohibited on I-84 in the construction zone. Special Event Alert:
Sept 15: The Top of Utah Marathon will be held on Saturday, September 15, on various roadways throughout Cache County. The marathon begins on SR-101 on Blacksmith Fork Canyon, then follows SR-101 to Hyrum, then SR-165 through Nibley, before joining US-89/91 at the southern end of Logan. Motorists should be on the lookout for individual or groups of runners on the roadway, and take care in overtaking and passing.
