Witches descend on Historic Downtown Logan for festival

For the second straight year witches of all ages are expected to converge on the Cache County Building plaza Saturday, October 20 for the “What a Witch Wants Party” from 5-10 p.m.

“It’s more for the ladies; it’s a girls night out,” said Denise Lindsay, event organizer. “Everyone from little witches to big witches is invited. Last year we had four generations of witches come. We encourage everyone to come dressed up as a witch. If you don’t have a costume, buy a hat and throw on a feather Boa.”

She said vendors would be on hand selling things women buy, items with a Halloween flare. There will be contests for best familiar witch, best hat, best cackle, the best broom, best hat and best dress. Miss Cache Valley and her attendants will serve as contest judges.

For 15 years Lindsay and her friends made an annual trip to Gardner Village in Salt Lake City for a similar event. Eventually they wondered why such an event wasn’t being staged in Cache Valley.

“We have so much to offer here in the valley including vendors and fun people and the right locations. So we started working on putting it together and here we are almost ready for our second year.”

The Jivin’ Audio group will provide appropriate lights and fog machines and Halloween music for dancing.
