Not only is Logan Police Sgt. Louise Speth the first female officer in the department to advance to that rank, Speth is also recognized for her work with Special Olympics.
On KVNU’s Crosstalk show, Speth said those who associate with Special Olympics athletes gain much more themselves because those athletes give support and unconditional love.
Speth says Special Olympics does amazing things.
“Jason Greenhalgh is a Special Olympics Athlete with our USU Aggie team,” Speth explained. “He is a terrific young man. He participated in the World Summer Games in Athens and he has been selected to participate in the World Winter Games in South Korea in February of 2013.
“He is right now in Lake Placid, New York with the entire world team practicing and training.”
The annual Polar Plunge coming up in February will help raise some of the $7,000 it costs to send an athlete to the games. Speth says on December 26 Wendy’s at 1305 North Main will donate 10% of all its proceeds to support Jason and Special Olympics.
Speth and other Cache Valley law enforcement officers were recently honored at the Utah Hall of Fame Banquet in Salt Lake City for their fundraising efforts.
