Draxler working on extension for alternative fuel tax credit

LOGAN— The start of the Utah 2013 Legislative Session is just a few weeks away and, and District Three Republican representative Jack Draxler said he’s been working on several bills he believes are important. One is the renewal of the income tax credit for alternative fuel vehicles.

Draxler said the bill was passed five years ago, but expires June 30 and needs to be renewed during the coming session.

“It is a tax credit for people who purchase alternative fuel vehicles ranging all the way from hybrids to natural gas vehicles,” Draxler said. “Five years ago, we didn’t have the Volts and the Leafs on the market – the all-electric vehicles. We need to renew that, and I’m expanding it to a greater number of natural gas vehicles.”

Draxler said these are solutions that need to be ramped up in an effort to improve air quality and to be less reliant on imported oil.
