USU hosting world-qualifying robotics competition

The 2013 Utah and Mountain Region <a href=”” target=”_blank”>VEX Robotics Championship</a> will be held at Utah State University on Saturday, Feb. 2. VEX Robotics competitions are robotic design tournaments for children between 6th and 12th grade.

Student teams, with guidance from teachers and mentors, design and create a multi-functioning robot to compete in sport-like events. The competition will be held in the Sunburst Lounge of the Taggart Student Center.

The event is a qualifying tournament for the world championships. Three teams from this competition will qualify for VEX Worlds, the Tournament Champions (2 teams) and the Excellent Award winner (1 team). Entry to the UMRVRC is by invitation only.

The event is open to the public and features teams from Cache County, Weber County, Davis County and portions of Idaho. Qualifying matches will begin at 10:30 a.m. Championship matches will be at 4:30 p.m.
