Logan Mayor favors school district merger

LOGAN - If there is one issue that concerns Logan Mayor Randy Watts most right now it is air quality. On KVNU’s For the People program, Watts said he is pleased that the city has put together a task force to try to come up with ways to deal with winter inversions.

A caller asked Watts if he would support a merger of the Logan and Cache County school districts.

“I think we really, seriously need the two school boards to sit down and discuss if that is workable,” Watts answered. “We need to make sure bricks and mortar, all of it in this valley, is utilized properly, that it’s filled to capacity with the right-sized classes, more in the 25-27 kids, which many would say is still too many.”

Watts said he feels the issue is important and most families would probably pay more to make sure their kids get a good education.
