LOGAN—The Logan Regional Hospital has been named one of the nation’s top 100 hospitals for 2013 by Truven Health Analytics. The hospital’s CEO – Administrator, Mike Clark, said he’s extremely proud because the award means Logan Regional performs very well in the areas of clinical quality, service quality, and financial stability.

On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Thursday, Clark said he has been at the hospital approximately eight years – three of those years as CEO. He said during that time, the nation has undergone, and is still undergoing, massive reform and transformation. Those changes increasingly challenge hospitals to provide better care at lower cost.

“Some of those things have to do with how we treat people that come in with heart failure, how we treat people that come in with pneumonia. Do we give them the correct antibiotic? Do we give them the correct antibiotics at the right times? Do we control our infections? Do we control our costs? Those are some of the things we were recognized for in the country – how we control health care costs and try to reduce them.”

Clark said this is the second time Logan Regional has received this recognition, with the other time being in 2002. He said the hospital encourages an environment where employees continually improve and perfect the processes.
