New details on I-15 crash and shooting

<p class=”nth-child-even nth-child-4″>On 29 March 2013, at approximately 2215 hours, a GMC Denali was observed speeding/reckless on I-15 in Davis County. Several 9-1-1 calls were made in regards to the speeding Denali. Attempts to get into position to stop the vehicle were made by multiple law enforcement agencies in Davis and Weber counties but none were successful and the Denali continued north into Box Elder County. Once in Box Elder County, a Pleasant View Police officer attempted to catch up with the Denali and witnessed the Denali crash at approximately 2230 hours as it approached exit 357 on I-15 northbound.</p>

<p class=”nth-child-odd nth-child-5″>Multiple agencies arrived at the crash scene moments later. The primary agencies involved at the scene, and in the events that followed, are Willard Police Dept, Utah Highway Patrol, Pleasant View Police Dept, and Harrisville Police Dept.</p>

<p class=”nth-child-even nth-child-6″>Within moments after the Denali crashed, the officers on scene made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Cody J. Ramseyer (49 year old male from Sandy, Utah). Preliminary information indicates Mr. Ramseyer aggressively approached officers in a threatening manner. Officers from UHP and Pleasant View PD deployed tasers. Mr. Ramseyer, who continued to act in an aggressive and threatening manner, was eventually shot by a Willard Police Department officer.</p>

<p class=”nth-child-odd nth-child-7″>Mr. Ramseyer was transported to the Brigham City Community Hospital after which he was transported by air ambulance to McKay Dee Hospital where he succombed to his injuries. The shooting is being investigated by the Utah Department of Public Safety, State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the Box Elder County Attorney’s Office.</p>

<p class=”nth-child-even nth-child-8″>I-15 North and Southbound in the area were both initially shut down to make sure the area was secure and safe for the motoring public in the area. After it was determined there was only one occupant in the vehicle and the scene was secure, I-15 southbound was opened. I-15 northbound remained closed until 0430 from exit 351 to exit 357 to facilitate the investigation.</p>
