LOGAN— A 27-year-old Logan man was transported to Logan Regional Hospital with back injuries after he lost control of his van while traveling West out of Logan Canyon Sunday evening.

Mohamud Jedi of Logan was the only person involved in the accident as his 2006 Nissan Quest crashed into the rock cliffs on the south side of Logan Canyon. He had to be extricated from the vehicle according to police reports.

Logan City Assistant Chief of Police Jeff Curtis said the cause of the accident was still under investigation, but witnesses reported that Jedi had sped past them before losing control of his vehicle. The accident happened on the final big turn coming out of the canyon into Cache Valley.

Curtis said police did not know the extent of the injuries, but that Jedi was transported to Logan Regional Hospital via an ambulance. The hospital could not be reached for a comment Monday evening.
