LOGAN— Chase Nelson blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Logan to a wild walk-off win over Region 5 foe Box Elder Wednesday, as the Grizzlies defeated the Bees, 14-13.
The game wasn’t lacking for offense as Box Elder tallied three runs in the top of the first inning, only to have Logan counter with five runs of its own. The Grizzlies led 12-6 after four innings of play, but the Bees battled back scoring seven runs across the fifth, sixth and seventh innings while holding Logan scoreless to take a 13-12 lead.
However, Nelson wasn’t about to let the game slip away. The senior pitcher helped himself pick up a win on the mound as well as he connected on the two-run shot to pick up the win. As a team, the Grizzlies tallied 16 hits, while Box Elder recorded 15. Both teams recorded only two errors each, in the wildly entertaining affair.
The two will tangle again Thursday, as they make up a game that was canceled Tuesday due to inclement weather. The Grizzlies will then square off against valley-rival Sky View on Saturday afternoon. Both the time of game and the location are still being determined.
