North Cache celebrating 100 years

<span class=”s1″>RICHMOND – A call inviting alums of North Cache to return to the school for a 100th year celebration was issued by staff and students of what is now the North Cache Junior High School.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>“We’re inviting anybody who went through a North Cache school system, whether it was the high school years or the junior high or middle school years,” said Vice Principal John Anderson.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>The school has set aside a week, April 29-May 3, to celebrate.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>An assembly Monday, April 29, will include the band, choir, orchestra and alums who will be invited to participate. </span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>Toss Back Tuesday the next day will include a “Dress Up Decade Day” and a “Going Green” activity where the North Cache teachers and the community of Richmond will be encouraged to shut out lights and power for 100 extra minutes that day.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>“Wednesday we will have some student activities in celebration of the 100 years, it’s called a hundred dollars for 100 years activity,” said Anderson.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>Thursday it is the 100-year picture, which will include an aerial photo of all who show up in school colors and line up on the hill east of the school.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>The student dance is scheduled for Friday.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>“I told my grandmother about our 100-year celebration plans,” said Anderson. “She went to school here and she would have been 90 years old this year. She passed away last year but I am sure there are others of the same generation and we hope to get some of the oldest members of our community to participate.”</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>The first high school in Richmond was known as Richmond High, built in about 1912. It is estimated the name North Cache High did not come into existence until between 1920-30.</span>
