Cache Democrats host organizing convention Saturday

The Cache County Democratic Party is holding its organizing convention on Saturday, April 20 starting at 10 a.m. at the Logan High School Little Theater. Party Chairman Vince Wickwar says Democrats and others interested are invited to attend.

“We will have candidates for state party leadership there and we will be voting for local leadership,” Wickwar says. “Immediately after that we will have our central committee meeting where we’ll be talking a lot about our various committees that are involved in running the party, telling people what they’re doing and looking for volunteers. It’s a good time to get involved.”

Wickwar says he will be seeking another term as party chairman but vice chair Kathy Snyder is stepping down. Former Logan Mayor Doug Thompson will be running for vice chair.

Wickwar says the other local officers are Scott Bushman (Secretary), Jeffrey Turley (Treasurer) and Elaine Thatcher (Legislative #5 leader). He is not sure if any or all of them will be running again. Anyone interested in seeking an office is asked to contact Herm Olsen at 752-9090.
