HOWELL – A minor earthquake occurred at 7:32 a.m. Wednesday morning in Northern Utah. According to the University of Utah Seismograph station, the 3.1 magnitude quake was centered nine miles northeast of Howell and nine miles west-southwest of Plymouth in Box Elder County.
The earthquake was reported to have occurred at 0.7 miles below the surface. There have not been any reports of property damage or injuries.
Wednesday’s quake follows a series of smaller quakes that have occurred in the same area over the past week. A 1.0 magnitude quake was recorded 11 miles northeast of Howell on Friday night, a 1.1 magnitude quake was recorded just before 12 noon Saturday at approximately the same location and a 2.2 magnitude quake was recorded Saturday approximately eight miles northeast of Howell, also just before noon.
