For the second consecutive game the Smithfield Blue Sox were hot at the plate, racking up nine hits en route to a 10-1 victory over Brigham City on Wednesday in just seven innings.
Jordan Hansen and Larry Nelson had two hits apiece for the Blue Sox, and Colby Read led Smithfield with two RBI’s as the Peaches struggled to find any offense.
Spencer Johnson and Chad Smout combined to toss a 3-hitter while allowing just one run on a wild pitch in the first inning before shutting down the Brigham City bats the rest of the way.
Five different Blue Sox players recorded an RBI and Smithfield benefited from five Brigham City errors en route to the win.
Smithfield improved to 7-1 overall this season, picking up its first league win to improve to 1-1.
The Blue Sox return to action on Thursday when they travel to face NUL defending champion Providence at 6:30 p.m. at Providence Field.
