Cache Theater to hold encore performance to help actress

Cache Theatre Company’s production of Anne of Green Gables The Musical wrapped up at the end of June.

A special benefit performance of the play is coming back for one night, Monday, July 15 at 7:30 p.m. at The Theatre at Logan High.

“We closed the show on June 29,” said Mary Ann Sidwell of Cache Theatre. “The next day one of our cast members, a 14-year old, lost her home in a fire. We decided because we still had the set pieces and the drops and costumes and so forth that we would do the show one more time as a benefit to her and her family.”

A donation of $10 a ticket is suggested.

“Obviously we would welcome anything above that to support this family. All of the proceeds from this production go to support the family.”

The production is done in partnership with Logan High School’s band program.

“Logan High has been very generous, they are donating the venue, in cooperation with the band program so that we can use that for free and that expense, too, will be saved to go toward helping the family also.”

This production has not been presented often in the United States.

“However, it is the longest running show in Canadian history. It opened 50 years ago in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, where the story of Anne of Green Gables takes place. It is performed every summer there.”

The Cache Theatre’s next production, Annie Get Your Gun, is scheduled for late Fall and more information is available at
