Mendon approves new administration building

This is the fourth year Ed Buist has served as Mayor of Mendon, and he has filed for another four year term and no one has filed against him. Buist said although there has been challenges he has enjoyed the job serving the city where he has lived all of his life.

On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Tuesday, Buist said a priority project for him right now is a new administration building. There was a small one housed in the old school house, but that was torn down in 1990.

“When I came in I felt that need,” Buist said. “We have one small office in our fire station, and though our fire chief and the fire department have been very good to work with us, that’s just not a good place for an administrative office. So we took it to the citizens, the council has been very supportive, the citizens are open to it so our capital projects fund has been putting away money the last three years for it.”

Buist said Paul Willie is heading a committee raising money for the new building.

Mayor Buist is inviting everyone to come to his community over the next few days to enjoy all the Pioneer Day celebration activities.
