HYRUM – Everyone was in on the act for the Smithfield Blue Sox in a 12-2 win over the Hyrum Hornets on Thursday.
Kyle Anderson led the way with four RBI’s as one of seven different players to bat in runs and Smithfield scored in four consecutive innings to put the game away.
Anderson finished with a double and a home run, and Dustin Lind added a home run of his own as Smithfield racked up 15 hits against a struggling Hyrum pitching staff.
The Hornets struck first but couldn’t muster any offense, and Smithfield’s Jake Parks and Chance Randall combined to toss a seven-hitter to pick up the win.
Smithfield improved to 12-7 in Northern Utah League action and 21-8 overall this season, while Hyrum failed to pick up its first win of the season in 16 games this year.
The Blue Sox return to action on Saturday when they host the Salt Lake Black Sox for the second consecutive weekend. The first game of the double header begins at 6 p.m.
Hyrum will look to pick up its first win on Saturday when the Hornets travel to face Logan. That game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
