Logan mayoral race enters final week before primaries

Right now three candidates are running for Logan Mayor but all three are hoping not to be eliminated when the primary election is held on August 13.

Incumbent Mayor Randy Watts is seeking a third four-year term and is being challenged by Cache County councilmember Craig Petersen and James Olson, who is now on leave as the city’s community development block grant coordinator.

“It’s a great family event. We had several hundred people out at Merlin Olsen Park just doing some sports activities,” Olson said. “I was able to politic a wee bit but the main emphasis was to say that this is the type of community, this is the type of events we want to have in our community and give people a flavor of what they can expect when I’m mayor.”

Wednesday the three candidates for Mayor will debate on KVNU’s Crosstalk program. It begins at 9:10 a.m. and anyone is invited to call-in with questions or comments.
