Debating on KVNU’s Crosstalk show Monday, Hugie said that in his work as an electrician he has run into people who have complaints about the relationship between residents and city employees.
“One is that next to this property owner there was a field that was empty and there was obnoxious weeds. It was kind of like a cul de sac and they were concerned about fires starting in it,” Hugie said. “They went to city council meetings and nothing was done about it. They just kind of felt like they were brushed off. That was one thing. The other thing was a couple of business owners that I was talking with and they’ve had frustrations with how their works were dealt with with Hyrum city.”
A current member of the Hyrum City Council, Stephanie Miller said she works hard to bring about good relations between the city and its businesses.
Pat Hansen said she’s had a lot of experience with administrative jobs with both Logan and Cache County School District.
Bryan Larsen was invited but did not attend the debate.
