Jensen leaves city council for project in Jordan

LOGAN – After less than two years as a member of the Logan City Council, Tom Jensen has resigned as of September 4th to accept a professional assignment in Jordan.

On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Friday, Jensen said he has been asked to lead the development of a new architectural program at the American University of Madaba, Jordan and will be focusing on recruitment, accreditation, establishing internships and teaching. His wife Ronna will teach English and assist with translations.

Jensen says it is not a mission, but rather the couple will work with the Catholic Church to help bring better understanding and hope to a troubled part of the world.

“Certainly there’s anxiety because of the political things that are happening in that region of the world,” he said. “Syria, Egypt and Iraq all surround Jordan. But Jordan is a sea of tranquility.”

At Tuesday’s meeting of the city council, it will be explained how Jensen’s successor will be selected.
