Northern Utah water districts are ordering users to cut usage by at least 50 percent through September in the face of anticipated shortages this fall.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports the order affects customers of the Pine View Water Systems, including the Ogden River Water Users Association, South Ogden Conservation District and Weber-Box Elder Conservation District.
Water system officials say if the cuts don’t happen, they’ll be out of water by mid-September.
For the rest of August, consumers are asked to water only once every five days, and in September, just once a week.
Watering is prohibited between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and no excessive watering is allowed.
Violators will lose water service the rest of the season and face a $500 reconnection fee next year.
