Bobcats stomp Mustangs in valley clash

SMITHFIELD – Sky View head coach Craig Andher became the winning-est coach in school history as the Bobcats raced past valley-rival Mountain Crest, 49-16 at home in Smithfield.

“It’s really caused me to think back, That’s a culmination of what great players and great kids and great coaches we’ve had that have helped out and helped these kids prepare themselves. That’s the neat part about it.”

Defense told the tale for the Bobcats, as two players returned interceptions for touchdowns – including a 100-yard return by Logan Miller – and Dane Anderson rushed for two touchdowns in the rout.

Sky View improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 5 play heading into next week’s Thursday showdown with Logan.

“It feels really good,” said Sky View’s Justin Evans, a senior wide receiver and defensive back. “Coach said I have eight hours (before focusing on Logan).”

The Mustangs fell to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in region action. Mountain Crest travels to No. 1 ranked East next week.

Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
