It has been talked about before and Cache County Executive Lynn Lemon said this could be the year the county council decides to combine two elective offices: the County Auditor and the County Clerk.
On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Monday, Lemon said the two offices were combined at one time but later separated. He said there have been several discussions about going back to a position of clerk-auditor.
“The (Cache) County Council members went to a joint (meeting) called Utah State Association of County Councils and Commissions and visited with those counties that have that,” Lemon explained. “My understanding is that they got fairly positive feedback on that.
“I think there is still an effort and there is still a movement to consolidate those two offices.”
County Auditor Tamra Stones says those counties she has checked with, however, prefer to have separate offices for auditor and clerk.
