Candidates for Providence City square off on Thursday

PROVIDENCE – Candidates for Providence Mayor and Providence City Council will square off in a debate on Thursday, October 24 at the Providence Elementary School gymnasium. Doors will open at 6:30 and the debate will begin at 7.

Incumbent mayor Ron Liechty is being challenged by current city councilman Don Calderwood. For city council, Jeff Baldwin, John Drew and Steve Liechty are vying for two open council seats as Calderwood is running for Mayor and Dale Astle has opted not to seek reelection.

The debate is sponsored by News/Talk KVNU. For the People host Jason Williams will act as moderator.

There will be a table set up for each candidate where they will display flyers and be able to answer any questions. Bleachers will be used for the public with the candidates seated on chairs on the gym floor during the question and answer period.
