Cache County’s Sub for Santa program helped almost 1300 children in need have a wonderful Christmas last year. Sub for Santa director Susan Rasmussen said it takes the whole community to make things happen and she’s hoping for that same cooperation in 2013.
On KVNU’s Crosstalk program Thursday, Rasmussen said a lot is already happening but there is still a lot to do.
“At this moment we have received applications for 160 families. That represents 459 children,” Rasmussen explained. “If we want to reach our 1,000 goal, we need a lot more applications to come in.
“Our deadline has been moved up a month and Thanksgiving was moved back a week so it’s really short. Our deadline is Monday after Thanksgiving. So we would really like to see those applications come in as soon as possible.”
She said the ShopKo tree starts Saturday and runs through December 23. Utah State University’s Stuff-a-Bus is already busy as are the Lee’s Marketplace stores. Zions Bank is a new partner and Michael Guthrie, manager of the Pioneer Branch, said donations can be made at any of the bank’s locations.
