LOGAN – Emergency crews said a fire early Wednesday morning destroyed a Bothwell home, north-west of Tremonton. Box Elder County Fire Marshall Corey Barton said the fire was reported at 3:30 a.m.
“What happened is, the gal woke up in the middle of the night with smoke in the house,” said Barton. She went outside, went to her next-door-neighbors to call for the fire department. By the time the fire department got there, the house and attached garage were fully involved.”
The fire occurred near 12700 North and 11000 West. Barton said the woman was the only resident living in the home and was not injured. The home is a complete loss and valued at $175,000.
Barton said there are no fire hydrants so crews had to truck water into the area, to battle the fire.
“We had three fire departments,” said Barton. We had the Thatcher-Primrose department, it’s their area. We had Tremonton Fire Department and we had the Central Fire District all shuttling water to work on this fire.”
Barton said the fire appears to have started in the garage and spread to the rest of the home. State Fire Marshals are now investigating the cause.
