LOGAN – Anyone confused about the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, can attend a free Health Reform 101 event at the Logan Library on February 10th at 5 pm.
The Utah Health Policy Project will be hosting the event. UHPP is a Utah-based nonpartisan, nonprofit focused on health care reform and education. Last year, UHPP gave over 90 presentations across the state, reaching more than 4,000 people. Monday’s event will be the first in Cache County.
“We talk about how health reform will happen here in Utah,” explained Communications Director Jason Stevenson. “We even do it down to the county. When I’m presenting in Logan next week, I’m going to be bringing information that is specific for Cache County residents. We really do bring detailed information that is relevant.”
Stevenson will give several presentations earlier in the day at Utah State University.
He said the Affordable Care Act can be a complicated topic and that there is a lot of misinformation. UHPP’s goal is to talk about what Obamacare is and what it is designed to do.
“Even if you don’t like Obamacare or you’re not a fan of President Obama, that’s fine. That’s not our job. Our job is to have people walk out of this event knowing more than when they walked in,” Stevenson said.
Stevenson added there will be an enrollment expert at the free event on Monday. The enrollment expert will be available to set up appointments with people who want to find out more about their options. There will also be Q&A time at the end of the presentation.
Utah residents have until March 31st to enroll in new private insurance on <a href=”https://www.healthcare.gov/” target=”_blank”>healthcare.gov</a>. Stevenson said a website that can be a helpful resource is <a href=”http://www.takecareutah.org/” target=”_blank”>takecareutah.org</a>.
