Polar plunge for Special Olympics Utah

LOGAN — The annual Polar Plunge will be held Saturday at Hyrum Reservoir. Everyone is invited to jump into the ice-cold water and help raise money for the Special Olympics.

There are 130 people already registered for the plunge. Organizer Victor Meier said the event has gotten bigger each year.

Meier said, “most people look at me like ‘why aren’t you doing something during the summer instead of in the winter?’”

“It’s for a good cause,” said Meier. “One of our lines is ‘Freezing for a Reason.’ You’ll at least have a warm heart because you are doing it for a good cause.”

Cache County Sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Logan City Police department will be on hand to help those jumping in the water.

Anyone can register at Hyrum Reservoir beginning at 9 a.m.
