Cache County Attorney’s Office signs on with new case management system developed by local company

The Cache County Attorney’s Office, a New Dawn Technologies customer since December, went live with JustWare Monday, February 3, in one of the fastest implementations in New Dawn’s 18-year history.

The office of the Cache County Attorney replaces three legacy case management systems—designed and implemented by the state of Utah. Three separate programs required data to be entered and pulled for the sake of reporting from three separate systems. Now all data, including audio and video files and documents, are stored in a central, name-centric database and entered only one time. All cases from 2014 onward will be stored within JustWare’s searchable database. Legacy data, from previous and on-going cases will be moved to JustWare as needed.

“Over the last four years we’ve been developing software and it’s been really frustrating. We never got to where we needed to go,” said James M. Swink, Cache County Attorney. “This is a vast improvement. Technology should make us all more efficient.”

The Office of the Cache County Attorney will use technology to integrate with local law enforcement using the JusticeWeb web-portal. JusticeWeb allows law enforcement will upload evidence and notes to be stored in JustWare. Law enforcement officers within the county will now be able to see which cases they are involved in through the web-portal as well as what evidence and notes have been submitted. Keeping all documents together and up to date is important for legal proceedings—particularly in sharing information between justice agencies including law enforcement, courts, defense attorneys and prosecutors.

“It’s great to have a New Dawn Technologies’ customer in my own community using JustWare,” said Jon Peek, President of New Dawn Technologies. “This go-live is significant because of the short implementation time frame, and the commitment shown by County Attorney James Swink and his staff at the Cache County Attorney’s Office.”

New Dawn continues to provide excellence in customer service, implementations and innovative case management software solutions like the JustWare | Solution Suite and JusticeWeb to the justice community in more than 350 customer agencies in 39 states including the Utah State Tax Commission, the Office of the Washington County Attorney and new customer the Utah State Bar Association.
