The Bear River Bears came away from the Desert Hills Thunder in overtime with a 53-43 win. Led by Stetson Summers, defense and the offensive trio of Landon Cornwall, McKay Mitton, and Parker Lewis, the Bears were able to overcome a much taller Thunder squad playing tough defense in a very physical game, not allowing the Thunder to score in the extra period.
The physicality continued after the game while both teams were shaking hands. Jardeen Nessen was punched in the head by a Deseret Hills player as a fight ensued and both teams had to be separated.
Bear River kept their calm and their cool. Their reward is a date with Morgan, a rematch of last year’s 3A title game in the second round next Thursday at 2:30pm in Southern Utah.
