Maughan jumps into County Executive race

Another candidate has entered the race for Cache County Executive. Mark Maughan announced late Monday that he plans to run for the office being vacated by Lynn Lemon.

Maughan has served with the Cache County Sheriff’s Office for the past 14 years and recently received an MBA from the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business in 2013.

“I am committed to bringing increased strategic planning to government,” Maughan said in a press release. “I will provide strong leadership as we deal with issues of water rights, land development, growth, and pollution. One of the most important things we can do in government is to keep balance and make sure that we do not lose sight that government is for serving the people.

“I vow to increase communication and work closely with all citizens of Cache County. A strong financial position can be maintained through wise decision making, proper budgeting, and a look at our future needs.”

Besides working as a Sergeant in the sheriff’s office, Maughan said that he has owned his own business and has worked in the private and public sector.

Maughan has been active politically in the Republican Party serving as a county delegate and serving as a member and sponsor of the Republican Lincoln Club.
