Ready! Set! School! is a kindergarten preparation support system available through the Family Information and Resource System. The director, Claudia Brilliant, said the Logan Family Center offers a free kindergarten preparation support system that helps parents get their 3-5 year-olds ready for school success.
On KVNU’s Crosstalk program Friday, Brilliant also said there is a library at the center where parents and their children are allowed to check out books, DVDs, puzzles and other materials for free.
“What we are doing is empowering parents to prepare their own children,” Brilliant said. “What we discovered when they did Ready! Set! School! originally, they found out that the majority of parents, about 60% of parents of pre-school children, cannot afford private pre-school and they don’t qualify to attend something like Head Start.”
She said without something like this many local children could be expected to “fall through the tracks.” For more information, call 755-5171. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lessons are taught Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Lessons are taught bilingual, in Spanish and English, Fridays at 10 a.m.
