If you are thinking of running for an office this year it’s about time to make up your mind. Cache County Clerk Jill Zollinger says the filing period opens Friday, March 14 and runs through Thursday, March 20 which is shorter than it has been before.
Zollinger says there will be a lot of offices people can file for this year.
“We have our U.S. Congressional district, which all of Cache County would vote on. It’s the seat that Rob Bishop currently holds,” explains Zollinger. “Then there’s (Utah legislative districts) 1, 3, 4, 5 and Senate District 17; they’re all up for election this year.”
Zollinger says there are multiple county positions up for election this year in Cache County.
“On the County Council seats, the Northeast District, which is the seat that Val Potter holds, Logan Seat 3, which is the one that Greg Merrill (occupies) now, and the Southeast District. Gordon Zilles holds that seat now.”
Zollinger’s term also expires and she says since the last election it has become the Clerk-Auditor office and she does plan to seek another term. Other county positions on the ballot this year will be the Executive, Sheriff, Attorney, Assessor, Recorder, and Treasurer.
