Cache Democratic chair encourages people to file for office

If you think you may want to run for an elective office this year now is the time to make up your mind. Cache County Clerk Jill Zollinger says the filing period begins today, March 14 and continues through next Thursday, March 20.

Right now, all partisan offices in Cache County are held by Republicans. Vince Wickwar, chairman of the Cache County Democratic Party, is hoping to change that.

“There are seven positions there that are up for election,” Wickwar says. “The first is for the Executive, which is currently held by Lynn Lemon. He has said he is not running for reelection.

“So it’s an open seat. This is a great time for someone with executive experience to get involved. The County Attorney’s position, the County Assessor, the County Clerk, the County Recorder, the County Treasurer and the County Sheriff.”

Wickwar says all of the state legislative representatives also have terms expiring. Those interested in running can pick up election instructions in the Cache County Clerk’s office.
