Petersen: Logan nearing the end of tree cutting along Logan River

New Logan Mayor Craig Petersen is adding something to the regular agenda for municipal council meetings. The mayor told council members Tuesday that it will be an update on projects and issues.

He then gave an update on the Logan River restoration project taking place in the Logan River Golf Course area.

“We’re almost done with the end of the tree cutting,” Petersen said. “I think that will end in about another 10 days. I think, in a sense, we’ve reached the bottom in terms of the appearance.

“What will happen, subsequent to that time, we will begin the process of restoration. We have about 500 indigenous shrubs that we’ll plant, about 500 small trees, and about 150 larger trees.”

Petersen said city staff will take a good look at things a year from now and if more needs to be done it will be done then. He told the council things will be looking a lot better in that area.
