Juveniles arrested in convenience store burglaries

LOGAN — Logan City Police have arrested two juveniles suspected of burglarizing two convenience stores last weekend.

Logan City Police Chief Gary Jensen said detectives and probation officers attempted to contact a 17-year-old male at his home, Wednesday.

The juvenile was smoking outside his home and fled on foot as officers approached. He was caught after a short foot chase and interviewed by investigators.

Jensen said detectives also identified a second 16-year-old male involved in the crimes. He also was arrested Wednesday.

Both juveniles are suspected of burglarizing the Island Market, 400 East Center St. and the Foothill Mart, 1436 North 1200 East.

Jensen said detectives recovered stolen property related to both burglaries and property taken from several stores in retail thefts.

Both were arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Facility on charges of felony theft and burglary, evading arrest and criminal mischief.
