All denominations invited to Love’s Greatest Gift

“Love’s Greatest Gift,” the Easter cantata written by John and Karen Carter along with Cecelia Benson, will be returning to the Logan Tabernacle this weekend with performances to be held Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. It will be the 18th time the popular cantata has been presented locally.

Karen Carter is the wife of John Carter, who conducts the cantata with full orchestra and choir, and the mother of 24-year old Christopher Carter who will be singing the role of Jesus Christ. On KVNU’s Crosstalk program, she said the text of this cantata begins where most other works leave off: at the resurrection of Jesus Christ. She said it then follows through to Christ’s ascension into Heaven.

“We really invite people from all denominations to come and join us, to feel the spirit of this music and the spirit of the message,” Carter said. “It really is an Easter treat.”

Carter said the event is sponsored by the Cache Community Connections, an inter-faith civic organization.
