Logan Mayor Craig Petersen is asking for help from critics of the flood management project at the site of the Logan River Trail in southwest Logan. Last month a group of environmentalists and other residents complained that in repairing the area both fish and bird habitat was destroyed and other damage done.
At Tuesday’s meeting of the City Council, Petersen asked Jim Goodwin to help choose a small committee to help decide how to make things better.
“I see this as being primarily a volunteer project,” Petersen says. “The city will provide some resources. The city will assist in the organization.
“But I’m hoping that what we find is people from the university and from some of the other environmental organizations would lend their expertise and give us a hand, give us ideas as well as providing us with actual labor on the trail.”
He says it is possible a little funding would be available and he would also call for volunteer help.
