BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) – Officials are trying to measure the amount of damage to a historic, abandoned Brigham City mill after a fire tore through the property’s buildings Sunday night.

Fire crews from Brigham City and three nearby cities worked to put out the five-alarm fire at the Baron Woolen Mills buildings.

Officials don’t know what caused the fire around 9 p.m. or what fueled it to burn so quickly.

No injuries were reported.

The Standard-Examiner reports the property, which dates back to 1870, was abandoned.

City spokesman Rick Bosworth says the mill’s main building was damaged inside and its roof was destroyed. Another building further south on the property was a total loss.

Bosworth says there’s no cost estimate for the damage yet.
