Eccles Theatre announces upcoming Family Series

<span class=”s1″>A national touring brass ensemble, the <em>Dallas Brass</em>, is the opening show of the new season of entertainment at Logan’s Ellen Eccles Theatre.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>The theatre’s 2014-15 season is a combination of two series, the Marquee Series and the Family Series.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>“The Family Series is brand new to the Ellen Eccles Theatre.” said Jim Kreutzberg, Executive Director of the Cache Valley Center for the Arts. “We looked at the community and realized we had a lot of young patrons who might enjoy something that is targeted very much for them.”</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>The <em>Dallas Brass</em> appearance Monday, Oct. 20 will include a performance with local band students.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>“Two local high school bands will be given a chance to come on stage and play with the Dallas Brass,” said Kreutzberg. </span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>The band has been touring the United States for over 30 years and has the ability to play almost any style of music including classical masterpieces, dixieland, swing, Broadway, Hollywood and patriotic music.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>Second in the Family Series, Friday, Feb. 20, is <em>Laura Ingalls Wilder: Growing up on the Prairie.</em> It is a musical with a look into the life of a pioneer girl and her family as they moved west to find a place to call home. It is designed for grades 2-6, making it appropriate for the entire family.</span>

<p class=”p2″><span class=”s1″>The series concludes Monday, April 27, with <em>Little Red Riding Hood and the Not so Bad Wolf</em>. A professional touring educational theater group, Sign Stage, tells the tale of the Not so Bad Wolf, who is misunderstood because he has hearing difficulties. The Wolf has been teased and bullied because of his hearing impairment. There are hearing and non-hearing actors in the show.</span>
