Logan City and Cache County councils will discuss landfills, wastewater and CVTD

It’s the last item on the agenda but a discussion on the Cache Valley Transit District could occupy the most time when the Cache County and Logan Municipal councils hold a joint meeting Tuesday. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Cache County Administration building at 179 North Main in Logan and anyone interested is invited to attend.

The transit district has proposed a 0.25 percent increase in sales tax. County Council Chairman Val Potter says the CVTD has also suggested an alternative.

“The proposal they made to us in a previous meeting was that we share a sales tax increase,” says Potter. “We could put part of it towards roads, they would take a portion of that that was being discussed for CVTD.

“That proposal, as we’ve talked about it, has not been accepted by the council.”

Also at the joint meeting the two councils will be discussing ownership of the Cache County Fairgrounds and surrounding property, the North Valley Landfill north of Clarkston and a planned wastewater treatment system.
